From the date of 30 September to 7 October 2011, a festival that accompanied the workshop and concert in Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta will mark the peak of this prestigious competition.
As a tribute to Indonesia as the host country, the competition was opened to the composition using Sundanese gamelan instruments pelog salendro, western instruments, or a combination of both.
"We are thrilled to welcome a variety of artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, generations, and flying hours, which will be assembled to create musical works that use a variety of Western and Indonesian instruments," said Regional Director of the Goethe-Institut of Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Franz Xaver Augustin, in a press release received VIVAnews.
International jury consisting of renowned musicians and composers from seven countries have chosen the ten best works of the many works that entered from all ASEAN countries. Selected ten young composers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines will meet with international juries to exchange ideas and participate in workshops with guidance from experts.
The competition followed the mosaics to contemporary music ensemble from Berlin and a group from Bandung gamelan Kyai Fatahillah. Both ensembles will bring works by young composers for the first time during the workshops and concerts. After the workshop, the jury will make a final decision and give cash prizes to three winners.
